How I can help

Different forms of support. One human relationship.

We begin with where you are and choose the kind of work that fits what you need now. No labels forced. No one-size-fits-all formula.

Coaching

Behavioural, mindset and relational coaching for people who want to understand their patterns, make clearer choices and move forward with purpose.

ICF-accredited coaching
02

Mentoring

Consistent, practical guidance for young people and adults who need a grounded person beside them, not someone telling them who to become.

Presence, challenge and accountability
03

Counselling

A confidential, relational space to unpack what sits beneath the surface, make sense of your experience and reconnect with your own capacity for growth.

Integrative, person-centred at the core

About Jeff

I do not work from a pedestal.

I meet you person to person.
Jeff Charles standing beside stone columns in sunlight

I’m Jeff Charles, an ICF-accredited coach, integrative trainee counsellor and mentor. My work has been shaped by frontline leadership, residential childcare, schools, fatherhood, grief, rebuilding and my own lived transformation.

Not arrived. Still becoming.

My work is not built on theory alone. I have known what it feels like to lose myself, carry more than I knew how to express and have to rebuild from the ground up. I have transformed my health, navigated grief and significant personal loss, raised four children, led people through pressure and started again when the future I imagined no longer existed.

Those experiences have not made me someone with all the answers. They have made me more willing to sit honestly with the questions. They taught me that strength is not pretending nothing affects you. It is having the courage to face yourself, take responsibility for your life and keep becoming.

I know change is rarely a straight line. Sometimes people need space to make sense of themselves. Sometimes they need a steady challenge, a different perspective or someone who will stay present while they find their footing.

I bring honesty, warmth and depth to the work, with a belief that you already carry a capacity for growth. My role is not to hand you a manufactured version of yourself. It is to help create the conditions in which the real one can emerge.

My approach

Human first. Grounded in theory. Shaped around you.

My counselling is person-centred at its core, while drawing thoughtfully from psychodynamic theory, transactional analysis and CBT when it genuinely serves the work. Coaching and mentoring are equally relational, collaborative and non-prescriptive.

01

Relationship before technique

Real change begins when you feel seen, understood and safe enough to be honest. The relationship is not an extra. It is the foundation.

02

Depth without judgement

We can look beneath the behaviour and understand what it has been protecting, without reducing you to a label or a problem.

03

Strength with gentleness

Growth can involve challenge, responsibility and difficult truth. It can also hold compassion, patience and respect for your pace.

This may be for you if…

You are ready for something more honest than surface-level advice.

You keep repeating patterns you understand logically but cannot seem to shift.

You appear capable on the outside but feel lost, disconnected or overwhelmed underneath.

You are navigating grief, change, relationship difficulties or a loss of direction.

You want to build confidence, responsibility and a stronger relationship with yourself.

You are a young person who needs a steady adult relationship without judgement or pressure.

You are not looking to be rescued. You are ready to understand, choose and grow.

Questions

A few things you may want to know.

01How do I know which service is right for me?

You do not need to decide before getting in touch. Our first conversation is a chance to understand what is happening, what you want from the work and whether coaching, mentoring or counselling feels like the right fit.

02What is the difference between coaching and counselling?

Coaching usually focuses more on present choices, patterns, goals and forward movement. Counselling offers space to understand emotional distress, earlier experiences and what may sit underneath the surface. There can be overlap, but the boundaries and purpose of the work will always be clear.

03Do you work with young people?

Yes. I work relationally with young people through mentoring, coaching and appropriate counselling placements. Safeguarding, consent, confidentiality and parent or carer involvement are discussed clearly before any work begins.

04What are your counselling qualifications?

I am currently completing a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. My counselling practice is integrative, person-centred at its core, and is carried out within appropriate placement, training and clinical supervision arrangements. I am separately qualified and accredited as an ICF coach.
